Our youths A team got back to winning ways this afternoon with a fine 2-0 win over Avonmore at Whitegates. Rovers got a dream start when Evan Conyard scored after only eighteen seconds after great work by Tadgh Lord coming in from the right. Rovers were out to prove a point after last weeks disappointing performance to Ashford and were very good in and out of possession. Lorcan Sinnott went close with a free kick, Keelan Darcy with another chance before Lorcan Sinnott won a penalty, dusted himself down and duly dispatched to the Avonmore net to give Rovers a 2-0 half time lead. In the second half, Tadgh Lord had some great chances but couldn’t find the net along with the two Sinnotts, Lorcan and Alex but the Avonmore keeper stood firm. A good performance all over the pitch today. Alex Earls in midfield and Tadgh Lord who ran his socks off up front were the stand out players on the day. The Avonmore keeper was replaced with about twenty minutes to go with what looked like a nasty knock on the knee and we all wish him a speedy recovery from his injury.
