Our under 16's travelled to Arklow Town tonight in the under 16 premier league and put in their best performance this year to come away with a fantastic 4-1 win. The game started brightly with both teams going at each other and Arklow took the lead ten minutes in with a neat finish from their striker who lobbed Eoghan Doyle in the Rovers goal. Brandon Battams had a great chance to level matters soon after but struck the side netting when put through by Charlie Czwalina. Jack macklin had another great chance from an Evan Conyard corner when he headed wide of the far post. It wasn’t long before Rovers equalised when Mel Earley pounced to go in at the break all square. The second half Rovers went straight at Arklow and were rewarded after five minutes when good play between Czwalina and Dillon Vickers put Brandon Battams through on goal and the striker made no mistake to give Rovers a 2-1 lead. It wasn’t long before Rovers went 3-1 up when Mel Earley again came in from the wing and timed his run to perfection to finish neatly again to the Arklow net. Lorcan Sinnott would strike the post twice from free kicks before Charlie Czwalina from a Sinnott corner headed home to give Rovers a 4-1 lead and that’s how it would finish. A super performance again all over the park from every player and special mention to Mel Earley and Dylan Ryan when called up stepped up to the plate and put in man of the match performances.
