It was an early morning start for the team down at Credit Union Park, but the lads were wide awake from the first whistle! Showing fantastic tempo, Rovers flew out of the blocks, winning their tackles and creating a flurry of early chances.

The pressure soon paid off when some neat interplay between Luke Mulhall, Cayden O'Malley, and Locky Mathews opened up the defence, allowing Aaron Lynn to make no mistake from eight yards out to open the scoring. With Lucas Araminos, Aaron Lynn, and Locky Mathews posing a constant threat down the right wing, Rovers doubled their lead in the 25th minute when Locky whipped in a pinpoint cross for Daniel Morrissey to powerfully head home.

At the back, Moises Johnston, Kai Jameson, and Rian Kavanagh marshalled the defence superbly. Rovers were desperately unlucky not to add a few more before the break, though Arklow Utd managed to pull one back on the counter just on the stroke of half-time to make it 2-1.

Second-Half Goal Fest & Stunning Finishes

The lads picked right up where they left off after the interval, with Seb Gould and Luke Mulhall completely controlling the middle of the park. After hitting the crossbar just five minutes in, Lukas Araminas got his well-deserved reward two minutes later—collecting a pass from Daniel Morrissey, producing a silky run into the box, and calmly finishing to make it 3-1. Soon after, a forced error brought an unfortunate own goal to make it 4-1, with Finn Malone desperately unlucky not to add a fifth shortly after.

The goals kept flowing in style! Midway through the half, Cayden O'Malley produced the goal of the game, looking up from 20 yards out and cheekily chipping the keeper. Locky Mathews, who had been excellent all morning, then got on the scoresheet to make it 6-1.

Arklow Utd pulled a goal back directly from a free-kick with five minutes remaining, but Rovers kept right on pushing. With three minutes left on the clock, a sublime through ball from Luke Mulhall sent Locky Mathews through for his second of the match to make it 7-1. There was still time for one more, and Paddy Donnelly wrapped up a stellar performance with a fine finish to seal an 8-2 victory!

Man of the Match & Special Thanks

🏆 Man of the Match: While it was a close-run affair across a phenomenal team performance, the award goes to Aaron Lynn, who worked tirelessly up and down the wing and created so much of the team's positive play all morning.

A massive thank you to Squirrel Scramble for their fantastic sponsorship, and a final word of thanks to Arklow Utd for a great sporting game. Wishing them the very best of luck for the remainder of the season as our lads continue to kick on at this critical juncture of the campaign!

Well done, team!
