What a win for the Rovers lads! 💚🖤
Rovers got off to a flyer, racing into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes with goals from Owen Cannon and Jamie O’Malley. There was even a little VAR drama 🫣 as we checked whether Owen had grabbed himself a brace!
Rovers were solid throughout the first half and controlled much of the game, showing great composure, teamwork and determination.
Hodson Bay Celtic came roaring back into it late on with a long clearance that turned into a shot, flying over Nathan Quinn to make it 2-1 and set up a nervy finish!
But the Rovers lads dug deep 💪 As the game really came to life, both sides served up some fantastic, hard but fair tackles, with plenty of battling spirit on show. Rovers regained control and pushed for a third goal, but it just wouldn't come.
The final whistle brought a fantastic 2-1 victory for Wicklow Rovers U13 after a brilliant all-round team performance. Every player played their part in a great win! 👏🔥
⭐ OPPOSITION MAN OF THE MATCH
A special mention to our skipper, Rhys Byrne, who was selected as Man of the Match by Hodson Bay Celtic after a superb performance at right back. A fantastic recognition for a great shift from the captain! 🫡👏
🤝 THANK YOU, HODSON BAY CELTIC
A huge thank you to Hodson Bay Celtic for a cracking match played in great spirits. Two teams battling hard, showing respect and enjoying a proper game of football. Best of luck for the rest of the season!
