Our under 16's travelled to Newtown this morning to take on Enniskerry in the Jako premier cup semi final. Rovers started brightly and had early chances from Brandon Battams, Lorcan Sinnott and Evan Conyard. Rovers first goal came from a corner. An in swinger from Lorcan Sinnott was met by the head of Alex Earls and he made no mistake from five yards. Try as they might Rovers couldn’t find a second and went in at the break one to the good. The second half started with Rovers on the front foot and it was ten minutes in when Lorcan Sinnott scored when he placed a pile driver to the bottom corner of the net. Five minutes later sloppy defending allowed Enniskerry back in when a simple lob over the defence was met by their striker and he made no mistake from fifteen yards. Rovers stepped it up again and great work from Brandon Battams paid off when the captain and striker scored Rovers third to put some daylight between the teams. Rovers had more chances from Sinnott, Earls and Czwalina before Lorcan Sinnott grabbed his second and Rovers fourth with a carbon copy of his first. A low powerfull shot where the keeper had no chance to book Rovers place in the final. A good all round team performance from every member of the team today.
