WICKLOW ROVERS AFC CLUB NOTES WEEK ENDING 1st MAY 2022
Our under 18's suffered a 4-1 defeat away to St Patricks at Kilcashel on Wednesday night. The lads came up against a clinical Avoca forward line on the night. Luke Dunne scored the Rovers goal to make it ten for the season.
The under 18 girls scheduled league match at home to Portmarnock was called off as the away side were unable to field a team.
The 12A’s kept their unbeaten start to the season intact with a fine 5-1 home victory over table toppers Arklow Town on Tuesday night at Whitegates. Arklow went into the game with five wins from five games with Rovers five points behind in second place with a game in hand. This excellent win means the team have closed the gap to two points and still have that important game in hand. Milo Malcolmson fired home an excellent hat-trick with Kale Conyard and Tiernan Shortall adding singles. It was a fantastic result and a very impressive display from this little team. The 13A’s kept themselves in the title mix with a clinical display at Travers Insurance Park defeating Arklow Town 6-0 on Thursday night. The team were on top from start to finish not letting their hosts get a foothold in the game. Bruno Tejada led the way with an excellent brace, Wolsey Sloan Kelly, Giorgio Morgillo-Fidyk and Nathan Gough all added one a piece. The sixth came in the shape of an own goal after a Rhys Behan cross took a wicked deflection off a home player. This was an excellent all round team performance.
