Our under 14's travelled to Arklow Credit Union Park to take on Arklow United this morning.
It was a lovely morning for football in Arklow. Rovers started the game well. Dominating possession and moving the ball all over the pitch. When Arklow did attack it was down our right but everything was well dealt with by Shane O'Reilly and Cathal Cannon.
Against the run of play Arklow attacked firing towards goal and a great save by Josh McCann was unlucky to rebound off a Rovers player into the net. The lads kept their composure and it wasn’t long till they levelled through a super strike from Naoise O'Dubhslaine. The next goal came from a corner with David Johnston towering above all to head into the net to give Rovers a 2-1 lead at half time. After the restart Rovers opened up a two goal lead with a cracking strike from outside the box from Josh McCall. Arklow pulled one back but Sean Patrick guerin restored the two goal cushion. The lads dominated the game but were a bit unlucky as Arklow pulled two goals back to share the points in a cracking 4-4 draw. This was a great game and it was an excellent team effort from the Rovers lads.
