Our Senior Men’s C Team kicked off their league campaign this morning in Shamrock Park against local rivals Rathnew B in a hard-fought and physical encounter.

There was little to separate the sides in the opening stages, with Rovers playing some excellent football but struggling to create clear-cut chances. Rathnew always looked dangerous on the counter-attack, and after a blocked clearance late in the first half, it was the visitors who took the lead into the break.

Rovers came out after half-time pushing hard for an equaliser, while Rathnew had a few opportunities of their own to double their advantage. However, the lads continued to apply pressure and were eventually rewarded in the final five minutes. Wayne Doyle found himself through on goal and calmly slotted past the Rathnew goalkeeper to secure a deserved equaliser and cap off a superb Man of the Match performance. 👏

A great battle to open the season, with Rovers showing plenty of character despite missing a number of key players on the day.

Well done to all the lads, and we look forward to seeing them build on this result next week! 🟢⚪️
