Our under 14's got their season off to a flying start with an 8-2 victory over St Patricks of Avoca under the lights at Whitegates tonight. In the first half the lads were excellent and went in at the break leading 4-1. To be honest it was a cracking game and the away side could have had another couple of goals only to be denied by some good saves by Josh McCall in the Rovers goal. The second period saw more of the same, some great attacking football capped with excellent finishing by both teams. Jack Healy smashed home s clinicsl hat-trick, Josh McCall came out of goal to nab a brace. There were singles for Sean Patrick Guerin, David Johnson and Ronan Phelan, this was an entertaining game between two sides who provided the watching spectators with excellent football to warm them up on a chilly night.
