WICKLOW ROVERS AFC CLUB NOTES WEEK ENDING 30th OCTOBER 2022
Well, it was waterlogged pitches that was the order of the day over the weekend with every game in the club’s fixture list falling victim of the heavy rain over the weekend. With an already minimum list of fixtures down for decision they were totally decimated by the weather with all scheduled games in both junior and senior grades been called off.
The club’s weekly junior soccer academy continues every Saturday morning [weather permitting] under the watchful eye of senior club coaches Johnny Dunne, Jimmy Nolan and John Kelly. The academy takes place on the club grounds at Whitegates and is open to all kids from the age of 3 years to 8 years. The academy starts at 11 o’clock and finishes at 12. There is no need for registration so you can come along to any week that suits. Come along and learn the skills of football while having fun and enjoyment, it’s a great way of meeting new friends as you learn the skills as you get prepared for the introduction to participate in organised league football in the coming years.
The club in conjunction with our Saturday morning junior academy run a Superheroes Football section for kids with special needs. It runs every Saturday on the all weather pitch at Whitegates and will be overseen by coaches James Quinn and James Macklin. The Superheroes section will run from 11.15 to 12.15 on Saturdays. If you are interested, you should register your child by email to wicklowroverssuperheroes@gmail.com or you can contact James Quinn at 086-3989769.
The youths team and everyone at Wicklow Rovers AFC would like to wish youth player Daniel Kavanagh a speedy recovery from a serious injury he received recently, we all hope your back to full fitness as soon as possible and back on the playing field. Get well soon Daniel. Everyone at Wicklow Rovers AFC would like to extend their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gerhard Czwalina, late of Wicklow Heights who sadly passed away recently. Gerhard’s sons Kevin and Christian have been involved with the club in a playing, coaching and fund-raising capacity. His grandchildren Jade, Charlie, Arran, Cillian and Sam all play for the club. Our thoughts and prayers at this sad time are with his sons Kevin and Christian, his daughters in law Sarah and Emma, his grandchildren Jade, Nicole, Charlie, Arran, Cillian, Sam and Katie, sisters Rosie, Marlis and Marianne, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. May he rest in peace.
