Our WDFL premier team entertained title chasing Glencormac United at Whitegates last night and the lads turned in what was probably their most impressive performance of the season winning 6-2. Rovers were on top and it was no surprise when Jack Fox gave them the lead with a header from close range. Soon after they doubled their lead when Adam Cuddihy dispatched a powerful free kick to the net. Rovers were proving clinical in front of goal and Luca Rampersaud with his thirteenth of the season made it 3-0 and then in the blink of an eye it was four when Jack Fox back healed from close range. The lads then had a ten minute spell when concentration lapsed and it let the Glens in for two quick goals to send the teams in at the break with Rovers 4-2 in the lead. The second half saw the away side have a stronger momentum but Rovers continued to exploit gaps on the break. The fifth goal was from a mistake with Jack Fox on hand to put the ball into an empty net from fifteen yards to complete a superb hat-trick. Glencormac kept the pressure on and had chances but the rear guard of Rovers stood strong. Jensen O'Connor Cox put the game to bed with a brilliant left footed low shot to the bottom corner from eighteen yards for a deserved victory in a very impressive team display.
