What a day we had at Whitegates for our Annual Community Fun Day and Mini World Cup!
Over 180 kids showed up ready to play under a glorious sun. We had teams battling it out in every age group from 8s/9s all the way up to our Academy stars, and even our awesome Superheroes got in on the action!
Over 180 kids showed up ready to play under a glorious sun. We had teams battling it out in every age group from 8s/9s all the way up to our Academy stars, and even our awesome Superheroes got in on the action!
After some nail-biting group stages, the top teams faced off in epic finals:
- 8s/9s: Germany just edged out Argentina in a thriller!
- 10s/11s: England took home the glory against Spain with a score of 2-1.
- 12s/13s: Italy showed their skills with a clean 1-0 win over Holland.
- Academy: Portugal snatched a late winner to beat Holland 2-1 after some dazzling footwork from all the teams.
- And let's not forget our Superheroes match, which ended in a 2-2 draw thanks to some incredible saves from coaches James Quinn and James Macklin!
Behind the scenes, a whole bunch of awesome folks made this day possible:
- Brian Byrne kept our Academy games running like clockwork.
- Our trusty refs Stephen, Luke, Jimmy, Francois, Keith, Sam, and Kale made sure everything was fair play.
- A big shoutout to all the parents who stepped up as coaches!
- Christine, Zoe, and Francois made sure everyone got their kits before kick-off.
- Johnny Dunne made the pitches look amazing and kept everyone safe along with Anthony Earls.
- Corinna Collins brought in those bouncy castles that the kids absolutely loved!
- Jimmy Nolan was the mastermind behind the whole mini World Cup, planning everything perfectly.
- Our new PRO Abish took some brilliant photos and helped get all the team kits sorted with Jimmy, Jenna, and Ross.
- Yvonne, Jenna, Ann Marie, and Claire kept everyone happy with their delicious tuck shop goodies.
- And finally, Ross Byrne and Trevor Conyard worked tirelessly to make sure the day went off without a hitch, even handing out medals to our champions!
Thank you so much to everyone who came out and made it such a fantastic day of football. Can't wait to do it all again next year!
