The under 12B's were home to a determined Roundwood side at Rocky Road this morning. With a near full squad available, Rovers fielded a strong team from the off. There wasn't much between the two sides in the first fifteen minutes, though Rovers would've had the edge, with Sebastian Gould shooting narrowly wide in the 7th minute and an excellent save from the Roundwood keeper from a Matthew Gough strike moments later.

The deadlock was broken in the 20th minute, when poor defensive errors led to Roundwood taking advantage and pounced to grab the first goal.

Rovers applied more pressure and after attempts from Sebastian Gould and Chris Delahunt, Rovers hard work paid off when Cian Foleys sweetly struck effort found the net after some nice passing movement just on the stroke of half-time.

1-1 at the break.

On the resumption, Rovers failed to focus and Roundwood walked the ball through midfield and defence to take an early second half lead. Despite an accidental injury to Rovers key man Chris Delahunt, he persevered to play on. Moments later Delahunt passed to Eoghan Daye, whose sweetly struck low effort from distance whistled through the Roundwood defence only to strike the post, but Daniel Morrisey was on hand to poke the ball home, 2-2.

The game was there for the taking with opportunities missed by both sides.

As usual, Chris Delahunt put in an excellent shift all over the pitch with Charlie Lawlor and Eoghan Daye solid in defence. Cian Foley, Sebastian Gould and Eoghan Quinn also shone for Rovers.

A huge thank you to Mark Wynne for excellently officiating the game. Also thanks to Roundwood AFC for a great game.

A special mention to Dave Morrisey also for helping out at the end.
