Our under 15's restarted their league season with a tricky away fixture with locals rivals Rathnew. It was a very competitive game where both sides battled well but with Rovers dominating the chances but unable to convert a number of them.

Rovers started the game well and created a few early opportunities but Rathnew took the lead against the run of play after Rovers put themselves under pressure with some loose play at the back. Rovers battled back well though to equalise before halftime when good work from Ronan Phelan on the left created the opportunity for Jack Healy to finish. Rovers played some good football and created additional chances but failing to finish them left the scoreline 1-1 at the interval.

Rovers picked up where they left off in the second half dominating possession and creating plenty of goal scoring opportunities and finally took the lead after good footwork from David Johnston in the penalty area created an easy finish for Jack Healy. Rovers kept driving forward trying to add to their tally but got caught by a good breakaway goal from Rathnew to bring the score to 2-2. Rovers kept pushing for that winner but it just would not cone despite coming close on a number of occasions and hitting the post.

So a slightly frustrating day for the 15's who will feel they should have come away with all three points but their unbeaten run continues and they can look ahead to the second half of the season with confidence.

Thanks again to Rathnew for a very well fought and entertaining game and we wish the Rathnew lads well for the rest of the season.
