The under 12B’s were away to a strong and competitive Avonmore side this morning in the league. With a limited squad, due to holidays, Rovers were the better side in the first half and could have taken the lead in the 15th minute when a Lucas Araminas shot from the edge of the box was tipped over the bar by the Avonmore keeper.
Then in the 27th minute, a craftily worked move, resulted in Rovers finding the net, via Ryan Newsome. One nil at the break.
Rovers failed to focus and Avonmore punished Rovers for this error, right from the start of the second half with an equalizing goal from the tip-off.
Rovers were right in the game right up to the 48th minute, but Avonmore pulled away with a flurry of goals late on.
A strong performance from goalkeeper Riain Kavanagh, was backed up by a spirited performance by James Carroll in defence and also Chris Delahunt and Charlie Lawlor.
