Goals a plenty were on show when St. Anthonys came to the Whitegates to take on our U12A's this morning. Rovers got off to a flyer in the first minute when a good move down the left saw Alessio Coppola find Mikey O'Neill who picked out Hank Murnane to opening the scoring. A superb long range pass from Nadal Kingne found O'Neill in the 17th minute to make it 2-0. St. Anthonys made it 2-1 just before the break after some excellent pressing to halve the Rovers lead. Rovers started the second half like the first when Kevin Yan put Murnane clear to restore the two goal cushion. Murnane made it 4-1 when Daniel Clarke poked the ball back to him inside the box. Murnane slotted home again from a Yan pass soon after that but St. Anthonys made a game of it when they scored two quick goals in succession to reduce the deficit to two. Clarke made sure the points were staying at Whitegates when he slotted home from a Coppola cross and O'Neill sealed them with a final goal in the dying minutes. Thanks to St.Anthony's for the game and our boys will now enjoy their summer break after a great game of football.
