Our under 11 Greens did not have too far to travel on Saturday morning for their 10am kick-off versus Rathnew. The meeting in Shamrock Park produced some fine passing and movement by both teams in the first half. With ‘Caden’ beginning to pull the strings in the middle of the park supported by ‘Jacob Birrell’ who was putting in a solid first half performance and very unlucky with his shot to the side netting. Ryan Newsome was moving with intent upfront and holding the ball up and laying off in style. Jamie McGowan was causing Rathnew concern down the left flank and Rovers took the lead with another thunder-bolt of a shot by ‘Caden’ to score a fine long range effort to the back of the net. It was Rathnew who upped the pressure in the second half and despite Rovers solid defence they equalised with a good header from a corner. Both sides had chances from there but the spoils remained even at the final whistle. With the mid summer break now upon us we wanted to thank all the kids for their full participation and efforts during the first half of the season, and to all the parents for their ongoing support.
