Its two wins on the bounce now for the 12B's when they defeated Roundwood 3-2 in a great encounter at Whitegates this evening. Rovers were fast out of the blocks, with Eoghan Quinn nearly scoring within 30 seconds from the start. Rovers kept up the pressure and, in the third minute they forced Roundwood into a mistake with an attempted backpass finding the Roundwood net. Rovers gave away a sloppy free kick on seven minutes, and Roundwood took full advantage to level the game at 1-1. Then up stepped Rovers captain Chris Delahunt in the 12th minute with a contender for goal of the season. A strike from thirty yards flew over the keeper and into the top coner of the goal. To Roundwood's credit they kept battling and got their reward and the half finished 2-2. The second half was all about grit and determination and Rovers got back into the lead when James Carrol came off the bench and hit a fine strike from just inside the Roundwood box. The game finished 3-2 to Rovers. Thank you to Roundwood AFC for a great footballing match.
