The under 11 Greens took to St Patricks pitch on Saturday morning for what became an epic battle against Ashford . With a couple of tweaks to the starting line up Rovers settled early and brought a high-level of competitiveness to the first half, every ball was contested and we had great support from all the parents as did Ashford, which created the atmosphere for both teams. It was Rovers who took the lead with a fine attacking move with Sam Reade switching the play to Jamie McGowan who finished sweetly to the bottom right. From the early exchanges, you could see the quality of football on display by both teams bringing a high level of energy. The second half saw Wicklow score again with another excellent strike by Jamie McGowan . For the remaining 15 minutes Ashford upped the pressure and resulted in them getting back on level terms. Both teams left the pitch with their heads held high after a fantastic exciting game of football. From our goalkeeper saves ,our tenacious backs, through to the full Rovers squad it really was a great team performance by all the lads to remember. Thanks to all the parents for their support & to Ashford for a compelling game of football ⚽️⚽️
