Our under 12A's returned to winning ways tonight when they took on a determined Coolboy in the Shield Competition tonight. Rovers started the brighter when Finn Murphy fed Mikey O'Neill to put Rovers one up in the 7th minute. Alessio Coppola was next to put an excellent through ball into the path of O'Neill to make it 2-0 in the 15th minute. Ronan Byrne and Freddie Kavanagh kept Coolboy on their toes with constant runs up and down each flank and ensured that Rovers maintained a two goal cushion at the break. Rovers had keeper Harry Waite to thank at the start of the second half when he stood tall to deny the Coolboy striker. The game was toing and froing throughout the second half until Murphy scored Rovers third in the dying minutes after some pinball action in box following a Kavanagh corner. 3-0 it finished to leave our boys traveling home happy after a hard earned away victory. Thanks to Coolboy for the tough encounter.
