A epic semi final was played out in the early morning sunshine at Whitegates today when Aughrim Rangers took on our U12A's in the semi final of the Premier Cup. These two teams always have a ding dong of a battle and today was no different. The game was finely in the balance throughout the first half until a minute before half time when a blocked effort from Aughrim fell to a blue and white shirt, who calmly finished into the back of the net. 1-0 down at halftime but the boys in green had the better start in the second half when Mikey O'Neill latched onto a Nadal Kingne through ball to equalize for Rovers. Rovers kept pushing for a winner but the Aughrim rearguard held firm and Aughrim always looked threatening on the counter attack. 1-1 at full time and both teams really went after a win in extra time but it was Aughrim who prevailed when they broke through with only minutes remaining to end Rovers hopes of making the final. Both sets of coaches could only be proud of the fine football match they had just witnessed. The very best of luck to both Aughrim and St Anthonys who will now contest the final.
