The 14A's kicked off their premier shield campaign with a narrow 2-1 home victory over Arklow United A. Rovers had a great chance to take the lead from the penalty spot but didn't covert. These two teams cancelled each other out in the first half as they went in at the break scoreless. It was Arklow who hit the front with ten minutes remaining on the clock. Rovers pushed forward and they were awarded a lifeline when the ref pointed to the spot, NJ Sinnott stepped up to fire home to make it 1-1. With time running out Rovers were awarded another penalty and it was NJ who stepped forward again to coolly slot home what proved to be the winning goal. This was a good team performance and a hard earned three points in their open shield match.
