Our youths A team welcomed Arklow Town to Whitegates today for the semi final of the youths cup. A minutes silence was held before kick off for clubman Richie Quinn who recently passed away. The game was five minutes old when Rovers took the lead thanks to great work from Tadgh Lord to open the scoring. Lorcan Sinnott was next in on the act when his powerful effort was too much for the Arklow Town keeper and ended up nestling in the bottom left hand corner of the net. Rovers went three up and yet again it was that man Tadgh Lord. Great work from Sam Christie and Charlie Czwalina on the right before Czwalina put in a brilliant cross and Lord couldn’t miss. Rovers went 4-0 in at the break thanks to a Lorcan Sinnott free kick after a foul on Czwalina. Rovers put in a clinical first half display to virtually put the game beyond Arklow. To Arklow's credit they kept battling away and were rewarded when they pulled a goal back midway through the second half but Rovers saw out the game to book a place in the youths cup final. A very impressive performance, particularly in that superb first half. Great to see Keelan Darcy back after a long lay off with an ankle injury. Well done lads.
