The Leinster Senior team were in action in the semi-final of the David and Paddy Lanigan cup today, they travelled to take on Lucan in their own backyard this afternoon. Rovers hit the front on the half hour mark, Ciaran McGettigan surged into the area before been clipped with the referee having no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Davy O'Sullivan stepped up and coolly slotted home. Things got even better two minutes later when Tommy Smullen was quickest to react to latch on to a back pass to neatly fire home number two. The home side pushed forward in search of a goal to half the deficit and on two occasions Rovers had Arthur Delahunt to thank with two superb saves. Just before the break Lucan did eventually breach the Rovers rearguard to half the deficit and send the teams in at the break with Rovers 2-1 in front. The next goal was going to be important and it was Rovers who got it, it was a solo effort from Ciaran McGettigan and a clinical finish to match his run to make it 3-1. Rovers shortly after made it 4-1, a corner swung in was met by Jamie Snell who powerfully headed home and it looked game over. The home team had different ideas and with ten minutes left they pulled one back to make it 4-2. It was nervous moments ahead and in injury time Lucan made it 4-3 and it was squeaky bum time. Lucan pushed forward in search of an equaliser but it was Rovers who put the game to bed when they broke upfield for Davy O'Sullivan to nab his second of the game to ensure Rovers were booking their spot in the final. In a good team performance Jamie Snell, Ben Algera, Arthur Delahunt, Tom Smullen, Ciaran McGettigan and Davy O'Sullivan impressed.
