Our 12C team entertained Enniskerry at Whitegates today. Before the game a minutes silence was impeccably observed as a mark of respect for Richie Quinn who sadly passed away last weekend. Rovers started on the front foot. They were unlucky not to take the lead after a defence splitting pass from Cian Collins found Casey Brennan on the far side, only for the defender to make a fine clearance. Enniskerry threatened to breach the Rovers defence but man of the match Michael Brennan controlled the back line and kept them at bay. First half chances created by captain Cayden O'Malley and Casey Brennan on the wings saw Rovers go close. Rovers hit the bar twice near end of the half and Sean Donnelly was unlucky with the rebound. Rovers continued the good play in second half. A Kai Jameson corner was played into a dangerous area and following pressure the defenders were unable to clear the ball and it wound up crossing the line. The pressure continued from Rovers and they should have extended their lead shortly afterwards but for some last ditch defending. The effort of the Rovers team paid off when Casey Brennan latched onto a through ball, beat the last man and slotted past the keeper. Rovers kept going and could have added to their tally towards the end. Great team performance. Thanks to Enniskerry for a good game
