A tale off two halves unfolded this morning in Arklow when our U12A's advanced to the semi finals of the U12 Premier Cup. The boys took on a strong Arklow Utd side and found themselves facing a serious challenge to overcome at half time after Arklow took a 2-0 lead into the break. Rovers heads didn't drop and they put on a great display to draw level and pull well clear come the final whistle. The comeback was built on the solid defense work of Ronan Byrne, Freddie Kavanagh, Jack Collins and Will Carey who ensured keepers Harry Waite and Ben Morrissey didn't have much to do in the second half. Kevin Yan started the revival when he struck a beautiful volley from outside the box into the top corner. He was at it again when he latched onto a loose ball to equalize and then powered in a delightful 20 yard free kick past the Arklow keeper for his hat-trick and to put Rovers ahead. Hank Murnane then got in on the action with a lovely rifled shot. Nadal Kingne was looking odds on to score after an excellent solo run but was taken down in the box and Mikey O'Neill duly slotted home the spot kick. Finn Murphy was next when he burst down the left side and coolly found the bottom corner of the goal before Daniel Clarke finished the goal scoring by poking home a loose ball ahead of the defender after a great save. Today's captain Simon Lynch, led by example to keep the boys going throughout the game to ensure that the boys powered home to victory.
