Our under green 11 team welcomed Rathnew this morning in the first round of the Jimmy Hackett cup to St Patricks school. Rovers started the slower and got punished from the visitors, a half time chat and back to basics we went and found ourselves back in the game with a cracker from Caden O Brien and Will McConnell getting a well earned goal. End to end action from there on and in fairness both team had chances to win it during normal time. Two halves of extra time were played in great spirits from both teams. The final whistle blew and it was level at 2-2. It was on to the dreaded penalty shootout and unfortunately for Rovers they lost out on penalties. Each and every kid can hold their heads up high as they done themselves proud. Well done and all the best to Rathnew in the next round.
