Our under 14A's entertained Shillelagh at Whitegates tonight in the quarter finals of the Premier cup. In what proved to be an uneventful first half most of the action was in the middle third of the pitch with clear cut chances at a minimum. It was the away side who had the best opportunities in the first period when they struck the woodwork twice in the same move after twenty seven minutes, the first effort came back off the post with the rebound thundering off the bar and then just before half-time Ted Hasler in the Rovers goal pulled off two excellent saves from successive Shillelagh corners to ensure the sides went in at the break scoreless. Rovers came out in the second half a completely different team and created chances from the off. Eight minutes in they were in front when Wolsey Sloan Kelly fired powerfully home through a crowded penalty area. Two minutes later Rovers doubled their lead when Cillian Czwalina nipped in to slot home from a Giorgio Morgillo-Fidyk corner. From this point it looked like the home side would kick on but Shillelagh had other ideas and they halved the deficit after fifty three minutes with a good finish. Wolsey Sloan Kelly was causing problems on the left and on sixty minutes the keeper was forced into a superb save from Wolsey. The resulting Giorgio Morgillo-Fidyk corner saw Nathan Gough make it 3-1 and Rovers were in the driving seat. In the dying seconds Nathan nabbed his second and Rovers fourth to cap off a superb second half performance to ease the team into the semi finals.
