Our U12A's welcomed Arklow United to the Whitegates for an early morning kick off this morning. The visitors came into the game with a 100% win record from their first three games with our boys knowing that they were in for a tough encounter. Both teams were giving it their all with few chances coming from either side until Kevin Yan put Hank Murnane through on goal in the 23rd minute. Murnane took one touch in his stride before rifling the ball into the back of the Arklow net. 1-0 at half time and Rovers got the best possible start to the second half when in the first minute, Murnane fed Mikey O'Neill who slotted in Rovers second. A third followed five minutes later when man of the match candidate, Simon Lynch, floated a lovely ball to O'Neill, who didn't hesitate to volley home from a very tight angle. Arklow heads didn't drop and they kept trying to break down the Rovers rear guard but they were caught on the counter when Alessio Coppola released a perfect pass to on the rushing Freddie Kavanagh who took one touch to fire in Rovers fourth. Rovers keeper Ben Morrissey was called upon in the final minutes to maintain a clean sheet and see out the game with a good 4-0 win.
