Our U12A's made the short trip up the N11 this morning to take on a very determined St. Anthonys outfit at Finn Park. Both teams were really up for this encounter from the first whistle but it was Rovers who struck first when Hank Murnane burst down the right side and delivered an excellent cross to the head of Mickey O'Neill to maintain his impressive goal scoring tally this season. The lead was doubled when O'Neill turned provider and fed Kevin Yan, who skillfully played the ball around the defender before unleashing a left foot belter into the back of the net. 2-0 at halftime but St.Anthony's came out battling in the second half and got on the scoreboard with a 25 yard screamer of a free kick that gave keeper Harry Waite no chance of saving. Game on now and both teams actively went pursuing another goal. Rovers got their third when Murnane recieved the ball on the left, slipped a pass to Yan who found Alessio Coppola on the edge of the box. Coppola rounded the defender and calmly slotted past the keeper to make it 3-1 and give the away side a very hard earned victory. A huge thanks to St. Anthonys for the game and we look forward to another great battle when the sides meet at Whitegates later in the season.
