The 12B's took on Glencormac this morning in a Division 1 clash at Whitegates and recorded a well deserved 3-1 win.
Rovers were on top in the first half but couldn’t convert numerous chances until close to half time when a corner wasnt fully cleared and Charlie Lawlor drove the ball back across the box from the left only for an unlucky Glencormac defender to turn the ball into his own goal.
Glencormac had been also dangerous in the first half with good counter attacks.
The second half followed the same pattern and midway through the half the lively Lukas Araminas jinked his way towards the touch line and his looping shot dropped in at the back post.
Alex Philippon then made the three points safe with a mazy run through the heart of the defence and calmly slotted into the corner from eight yards.
Glencormac got a consolation for their hard work and team spirit throughout the game when the referee pointed to the spot with five minutes left after a Rovers defender brought down the Glencormac attacker. And although Seb O'Rourke made a great save it was Ryan Dempsey following up to slam the rebound home.
Well done both teams for a great game in beautiful sunshine.
