Our under 12B team kicked of their season with a tough away game against Enniskerry FC in Bog Meadow. In a tight first half, Rovers had all the play but could not see a way past the Enniskerry keeper who was in superb form tipping a Chris Delahunt drive over the bar. Rovers got hit with a sucker punch near the end of the half when Enniskerry broke down the right and squared the ball to go in at half time 1-0 up. Rovers rallied in the second half and started as they had left off, pilling the pressure on the Enniskerry defence. A superb chest and volley from Charlie Lawlor again saw the Enniskerry keeper tip over the bar in what looked like being one of those days. But it was Lawlor again breaking down the right with a superb run and cross that saw the keeper make his first mistake of the game which was pounced on by Rovers forward Lukas Araminas to slot home the equaliser from close range. The game was then there for the taking and it was Rovers winger Eoghan Quinn that hit the winner with a jinking run beating three players before unleashing an unstoppable right foot shot into the roof of the Enniskerry net. With notable performances on the day by Captian, Chris Delahunt, Rian Kavanagh and Eoghan Day it was no more than Rovers deserved. Well done to both teams on an exciting encounter.
