Our WDFL A team took on Arklow United in the newly formed WDFL pre-season tournament and no better way to kick it off than with a seven goal thriller. This was a game that swayed from end to end. Three times Rovers found themselves in front and on three occasions United levelled matters. But Rovers weren't to be out done and with ten minutes left on the clock Jamie Power surged into the area but was taken down and the ref pointed to the spot. Up stepped Hugh Humby to calmly dispatch the ball to the back of the net to make it 4-3, a lead they held to the end. Rovers other goals came from a Hugh Humby header, his second of the game, an eighteen yard effort from Andrew Earls and a free kick fired home by Adam Cuddihy to get the lads off to the perfect start.
