WICKLOW ROVERS AFC CLUB NOTES WEEK ENDING 11th OCTOBER 2020

Well the presence of Covid-19 is still causing havoc throughout the world and unfortunately it is hitting sport very hard. Yet again we find ourselves in virtual full lockdown, the country moved to level 3 of the ‘’Living with Covid Plan’’ set out by the government last week and is to remain in operation for at least three weeks and hopefully after that period things will improve fingers crossed. As it stands all matches both competitive and friendlies are suspended, our Saturday morning academy is currently suspended, all team training can continue while carrying out the protocols set out by the FAI, under no circumstances should a training match take place during training as this would be a breach of the FAI no contact protocols. Our rentals slots on the all weather pitch are also suspended until further notice. One final note is our AGM scheduled for last night also had to be cancelled, we will reschedule the AGM as soon as possible and will inform our members through our social media outlets. These are extreme times we find ourselves in and we as a club are putting the health and safety of our members, their families and the extended community first, so please everyone play your part and help us to keep everyone safe. The club’s appointed Covid-19 Compliance Officer is Boodhan Rampersaud, this appointment was put in place way back when the original lockdown was lifted in line with Government and FAI recommendations. The club also carried out and completed the requested risk assessment on all our grounds and facilities as requested by the Government and the FAI. This will be the process on the resumption of matches whenever that may be and teams must also be reminded that all training protocols must be adhered to for the safe continuation of training. The club have recently informed all managers/coaches that all protocols remain in place and attendance sheets for training should be filled in and sent to the appointed Covid-19 Compliance Officer Boodhan Rampersaud. The aim of the club is to ensure the safety of all our members and their families while enjoying their return to football so please appreciate the extra effort our committee members and managers/coaches are going to so as everyone can get back to some sort of normality. As it stands, we are guided by the Government and the FAI and if there’s any changes going forward you will be notified as it happens.

The club are currently taking orders for club gear for Christmas, so if you are looking for Christmas stocking fillers why not purchase some club gear which would make an ideal stocking filler. Wicklow Rovers AFC promote soccer for schoolboys/girls, youths and senior men and ladies in the community, our club is growing all the time and any assistance with the help of running the club would be very much appreciated. At present we have a very hard working committee but we are always on the look out for people interested in helping out, the club are always on the search for people who are interested in getting involved in soccer, whether its coaching and managing or on the executive committee or a sub committee, maybe you would just like to help as an assistant manager, help with fundraising or help just around the grounds or in any way at all, don’t hesitate, get involved, anyone interested in helping out the club in any way can contact any committee member.
