Our senior team bowed out of the Leinster Junior Cup 2nd Round yesterday after a pulsating encounter against a very strong Rosemount Mulvey FC side from Dublin. Coming into the match in great form, the lads knew they were in for a tough test against top-quality opposition, and while the result didn't go our way, the performance showed we can more than hold our own against the best.

Rosemount took the lead in the first half, and then dealt a tough blow just a minute into the second half with a free header to go 2-0 up. While all three goals conceded on the day were frustrating and could have been avoided, the reaction from our lads when Rosemount added a third was nothing short of brilliant.

Spirited Second-Half Fightback Falls Just Short

Practically straight from the tip-off after Rosemount’s third, Robbie Mearns struck back with a great finish to make it 3-1 and spark the team into life. Moments later, Lorcan Sinnott netted a lovely goal to reduce the gap to 3-2, turning up the pressure for a grandstand finish. Rovers piled on the attacks and created several great chances to draw level, but unfortunately, that elusive equalizer just wouldn't fall for us before the final whistle.
Special mention goes to Mario Jiménez and Tom Smullen, who both stood out with superb performances throughout the match.

Credit to Rosemount Mulvey FC on their win, but our lads can hold their heads high after a performance full of grit, heart, and quality. With the league starting next week, the squad is in great shape and ready to carry this strong momentum straight into the campaign.

Well done, lads!
