The WWSL Premier Division trophy is coming back to Whitegates. Our Senior Ladies team officially crowned themselves league champions today after delivering a clinical 2-0 victory away against the All Blacks.
It was a performance worthy of champions, combining sharp attacking play with an unyielding defensive display to seal the title in style.
O’Brien Double and Defensive Grit Secure the Win
From the first whistle, the determination within the squad was clear. Niamh O’Brien proved to be the match-winner on the day, finding the back of the net twice to spearhead the Rovers attack.
The goals were crafted through fantastic vision across the pitch. Molly Sweeney provided a brilliant assist to unlock the opposition defense, while goalkeeper Louise Johnson turned provider with a phenomenal long-range assist of her own. Johnson was equally spectacular at the other end of the pitch, pulling off crucial stops to earn a well-deserved clean sheet and ensure the victory was never in doubt.
This trophy is the direct result of the incredible commitment, grit, and consistency the players have shown week in and week out all season long. The entire club is immensely proud of what this group has achieved.
A Message to Our Supporters
To ask the supporters who traveled and backed the team all year: this victory belongs to you too. Your shouting, cheering, and unwavering dedication from the sidelines throughout the season gave the girls that extra push to get over the line. Thank you for being our 12th player.
Thank You to the Team Behind the Team
A championship run requires a massive effort off the pitch, and the club extends its deepest gratitude to the incredible support system behind this squad:
Louise Corrigan: For her exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment, and guidance managing the team from day one.
Anto & Valerie: For stepping up without hesitation to join the management team mid-season and helping drive the push to the finish line.
Ricky & Rachel (Cora’s Mini Market): For their fantastic generosity in donating and preparing the food for the after-party celebrations.
Micheal Keating (PEI Surgical): For his brilliant support and immediate generosity in sponsoring the gear for the team this season.
The hard work is done, the title is secure, and now it's time to celebrate.
