It was a fantastic morning for our U13 B team as they delivered a top-tier performance to secure a convincing 4-1 win over Ashford Rovers. Every single player on the pitch played out of their skin today, controlling the tempo from start to finish and creating wave after wave of attacking opportunities.
The first half required a patient approach, with Rovers moving the ball exceptionally well to tire out the opposition defense. The breakthrough came after 30 minutes with the introduction of "super sub" Liam Kelly. With just his second touch of the game, Liam found the back of the net with an excellent finish to put Rovers 1-0 up.
From that moment on, he was unstoppable, eventually completing a superb hat-trick. Nathan Doyle rounded off the scoring for the home side with a goal of the season contender—a beautiful strike that flew into the top corner.
Rovers could have had even more, hitting the crossbar twice, while the Ashford goalkeeper pulled off a string of excellent saves to keep the scoreline respectable. Ashford managed to find a late consolation goal, but it did little to dampen the spirits of the Wicklow side.
Liam Kelly was the deserved Player of the Match for his clinical display, with special mentions going to Alejandro Rodriguez, Aidan Hughes, Will Musiol, and Alex Mullen for their outstanding contributions to a brilliant team performance. This group is really starting to push on and show what they are capable of!
