This Saturday morning our U8 warriors hosted Roundwood U8’s at our Whitegates home ground. Glorious sun drenched the pitches, though a blustery westerly wind was blowing hard. Our two teams warmed up and set themselves ready for a competitive encounter. From the whistle our boys looked hungry to secure possession and eager to pass quickly. 

There were strong tackles and some really good clearances up field as the teams navigated the wind and looked to use the full width of the pitch. Our training recently has focused on 2 touch and quick passing to feet, running hard with the ball, heads up looking for the pass or opportunity to strike.

With strong goalkeeping set; a solid defence making crucial and timely interceptions, our midfield line enjoyed good ball, space and time to set our strikers goal bound. Both teams played very well. Finding great space and attacking with intent. Our visitors were competitive and well organised, so for all of the parents and spectators it provided us all an entertaining end to end high intensity spectacle…

All the boys were fully involved, focused and making great individual contributions. Well done to our U8 warriors, pressing to the final whistle and and sportingly lining up to thank the visitors and wish all a happy Easter.
