Today our U8 team travelled to Arklow United. The sun was out for the first time in a while setting the stage for a ‘heated encounter’. Our first game of the season due to the weather postponements, the boys were all understandably very excited and full of enthusiasm.

We fielded two teams and had some substitutes too available to back up each which was terrific and needed (given some of the hot cheeks and sweaty hair on the pitch mid way through).

All of the boys were involved from the second the ball dropped. 

Tackles were firm but fair; our training progress showing from the off with great running heads up with the ball, good calling and super quick passing.

A few scary moments in the goals as the opposition tested our fleet of keepers, but all did great with brave blocks and fiery roll outs.

It was lovely to see both team competing for the ball; using the whole width of the pitch and ensuring fair play throughout, especially respecting the retreat lines..

We had a super time, giant smiles around, parents from all sides encouraging and clapping as the teams lined up to shake hands at the end.

Very proud of every single member of the U8 squad.
