In a game of two halves and missed opportunities, Wicklow U15Bs shared the points with Avonmore.

Wicklow started the match with high intensity, dominating the opening 15 minutes with fluid passing and aggressive pressing. Their early dominance was rewarded when Nathan Vickers found space and buried a well-taken goal to put the home side ahead.

Wicklow continued to carve out opportunities and had several clear-cut chances to double their lead. However, as the half progressed, Avonmore began to find their rhythm. By the time the whistle blew for the break, the momentum had shifted, with Avonmore finishing the stronger of the two sides.

The second half proved to be a more physical, "scrappy" affair. While the flow of the game was interrupted by frequent breaks in play due to substitutions. Wicklow remained dangerous on the counter-attack. Despite having multiple chances to "kill the game off," the elusive second goal remained out of reach.

The turning point came in the half. A poorly timed tackle led to Wicklow conceding an unnecessary free kick right on the edge of their own penalty area. The Avonmore player stepped up and curled a pinpoint strike into the top corner, leaving the keeper with no chance and leveling the score.

During the closing stages and refusing to settle for a draw, Wicklow threw everything forward in the final 10 minutes. Their persistence earned them two late corners, both of which resulted in goal-mouth scrambles and clear sights of goal. Unfortunately, the finishing touch wasn't there, and the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Man of the Match for Wicklow was Daniel Brennan.
