Wicklow Rovers 14B produced a commanding display away to Rathnew on Thursday evening, running out 7–0 winners in Shamrock Park.

Rovers made the perfect start, with Nathan Vickers breaking the deadlock after just 20 seconds. The early pressure continued, and on 9 minutes Vickers turned provider, setting up Casey Brennan, who calmly slotted home to double the advantage. The visitors remained in control, and Paddy Donnelly made it three with a tidy left-footed finish on 26 minutes, sending Rovers into the break with a commanding 3–0 lead.

The second half saw Rovers pick up where they left off. Substitute Daniel Morrissey made an immediate impact, firing home on 53 minutes after a clever pass from Davi Loboschi. Just two minutes later, Morrissey turned provider, teeing up Brennan for his second of the match.

Rovers keeper Matt Gough made a fine save from a rare Rathnew breakaway to maintain a clean sheet.

With Rathnew struggling to contain the waves of Rovers’ attacks, Loboschi struck on 58 minutes, before capping off a fine individual performance with a superb lob from the right-hand side of the box just two minutes later, sealing a 7–0 victory.

It was an excellent team performance from Rovers, with solid defending to secure all three points in style.

A big thank you to Rathnew for a competitive and sporting game. We look forward to welcoming them to Whitegates for the return fixture.
