Wicklow Rovers put in a commanding performance at Whitegates on Wednesday evening, running out 4–0 winners against Arklow United in the U14B league.

The home side struck early, opening the scoring on 12 minutes when Daniel Morrissey coolly side-footed home after a brilliant run and cross down the right from Casey Brennan.

Rovers doubled their lead in the 23rd minute following some clever link-up play between Brennan and captain Cian Foley, who released Brennan down the wing. His shot was parried by the Arklow keeper, but Vickers was quick to react and slotted the rebound home for 2–0 at half-time.

The second half saw Rovers continue their dominance. On 45 minutes, Morrissey was played through by Davi Loboschi before being brought down in the box. He picked himself up and confidently dispatched the resulting penalty into the top right corner to make it 3–0.

Just three minutes later, Vickers grabbed his second of the night with a moment of individual quality. Dancing past defenders just inside the box, he shifted the ball onto his right foot and unleashed a precise strike beyond the keeper for Wicklow’s fourth.

While the goalscorers took the headlines, there were strong performances all over the pitch. Moises Johnston, Davi Loboschi, Casey Brennan and Lukas Araminas all impressed, but Man of the Match went to captain Cian Foley, who battled tirelessly and led by example across the full 70 minutes.

A great team effort and a well-deserved clean sheet for the Rovers.

A big thank you to Arklow United for the game and best of luck in the rest of the season.
