U14B returned to competitive action today after the summer break with an away trip to Newtown Juniors.

Missing several key players, including their regular goalkeeper, it was always going to be a battling performance – made even tougher by the torrential conditions.

Aaron Lynn stepped up to play in goal for the first time and did superbly, keeping Newtown at bay until the 28th minute. The home side broke the deadlock from a well-taken corner, a strong header at the back post making it 1–0 at half time.

With the wind behind them in the second half, Newtown pushed on and added two more goals, finishing 3–0 winners.

Despite the result, there were many positives for Rovers. Lukas Araminus was outstanding throughout, while Moises Johnston, Cian Foley and Nathan Vickers also impressed. But the Man of the Match went to Aaron Lynn, who showed great bravery and commitment stepping into goal for the team.

Well done to Newtown Juniors on the win, and congratulations on their superb new facilities at the Community Grounds.
