Our U14B side travelled to Glencormac this weekend and got off to the dream start, with Casey Brennan finding the net after just 27 seconds. It wasn’t long before the lead was doubled—Federico Caruso slotted home a tidy finish in the 9th minute to make it 2-0.
Captain Cian Foley then added to the tally with a brilliant strike from outside the box, nestling the ball in the far corner beyond the reach of the Glencormac keeper. To their credit, Glencormac kept pushing and pulled one back on 29 minutes with a well-worked move down the right, switching play smartly to the left to make it 3-1.
Rovers responded immediately, with Brennan grabbing his second of the day—and his fourth of the week—before the break, making it 4-1 at half-time.
The second half saw Glencormac battle hard to contain the Rovers attack, holding firm until the 51st minute when Lukas Araminus powered a shot through the keeper to extend the lead. Nathan Vickers added a sixth, and the scoring was rounded off in style as Paddy Donnelly rose to meet a pinpoint Seb Gould cross with a superb header.
Full-time score: Wicklow Rovers 7 - 1 Glencormac
A huge thank you to Glencormac for a competitive and sporting game—we look forward to welcoming you in the return fixture.
