Wicklow Rovers 14B played their first home game of the new season at Whitegates, hosting a determined Roundwood side. In a match full of early drama and competitive play, both teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Rovers got off to the worst possible start, conceding within the opening minute after a missed clearance allowed Roundwood to take an early lead. However, the Rovers responded well and found their equaliser just seven minutes later. Frederico Caruso reacted quickest to a loose ball and calmly slotted it past the onrushing goalkeeper to bring Rovers level.
Caruso wasn’t finished there. In the 14th minute, he produced a moment of brilliance, using the outside of his right boot to lob the advancing keeper and put Rovers 2-1 ahead going into halftime.
The second half remained open, with both teams battling hard. Roundwood pressed high and got their reward when they chased down a back pass, managing to bundle the ball over the line for 2-2. From there, chances were limited for both sides, and despite their efforts, neither team could find a winner.
A big thank you to Roundwood for a competitive and well-fought match—we look forward to the return fixture later in the season.
