Our Senior B team was back in action today, and they didn't disappoint! They travelled to face title-chasing Arklow Town and put on a brilliant show, walking away with a 6-4 victory.
After a tough loss to Ashford Rovers last week, this young team came out firing. Even when they fell behind against the run of play, they didn't let it get them down. Ben Doyle, our right back, found himself in the box and smashed the ball home for the equalizer.
Then, Alex Sinnott chased down a long ball, getting to it before the keeper, who brought him down. Penalty! Charlie Czwalina stepped up and calmly slotted it home, giving Rovers the lead. Arklow responded before halftime, making it 2-2 at the break.
At halftime, Lorcan Sinnott came on, and he immediately made an impact. He went close twice before finally getting his goal, poking the ball past the Arklow keeper after a Georgie O'Neill flick-on.
Arklow equalized again, but then Rovers took over. Alex Sinnott scored from a Jordan Sinnott corner. Georgie O'Neill then scored a brilliant one-on-one goal. And Lorcan Sinnott got his second, finishing off a Trevor Conyard long ball.
What a performance! 6-4, and three points in the bag with one league game left. And here's the best part: at one point, nine of the players on the pitch were from our title-winning youth teams of 2023!
