Wicklow Rovers continued their impressive run of form with a resounding 5-0 victory over Wicklow Town in Friday night's derby clash at Whitegates.

The match started as a cagey affair, with both sides feeling each other out in the opening 20 minutes. However, the deadlock was broken in the 25th minute when Lorcan Sinnott found the back of the net to give Rovers the lead.

From that moment on, the Rovers took complete control of the game, dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Just before halftime, their pressure paid off once again as Osama doubled the advantage, sending the home side into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

The second half saw more of the same, with Rovers continuing to dictate the tempo. Ten minutes after the restart, Brian Doyle played a perfectly weighted through ball for Tom Smullen, who calmly dinked the keeper with a sublime finish to make it 3-0.

Rovers then introduced former League of Ireland striker Davy O'Sullivan from the bench, and he wasted no time in making his mark. O'Sullivan added two more goals to his tally, capping off a dominant display from the home side.

In truth, Rovers were in complete control after the initial 20 minutes, showcasing their quality and depth. While Wicklow Town battled hard, they struggled to contain the Rovers' attacking prowess. It's perhaps worth noting that a few familiar faces lined up for Wicklow Town, players who once donned the green and white of Wicklow Rovers.

With this emphatic victory, Rovers further solidify their position at the top of the Premier League table.
