Our WDFL C team took on Newtown this afternoon at Whitegates and came away with a well deserved 2-1 win.
After a closely contested first half the score was 0-0 at the break but it's in the second half where the lads really came on top and created chance after chance but the ball just wouldn't go in the net. In the 80th minute the deadlock was finally broken after a ball fell to Jack Geraghty in the box and he cooly slotted into the bottom corner.

With 5 minutes to play and against the run of play, Newtown equalised from a free kick and the game looked set to end in a draw.
However the lads kept going and pushed for the winner and in the 90th minute, Gary O Connor went through on goal and buried the ball in the top corner to give Rovers the victory. 

This was a fantastic performance from the lads who showed great character and determination to get the 3 points, especially against a side who won 8-1 in their game last weekend!.  A massive well done to all the players and a big thank you to Newtown for a great game of football.
