Our Senior Ladies team showed incredible resilience and determination this morning, overcoming an early deficit to secure a hard-fought victory against All Blacks in their second league match at Whitegates.
Despite falling behind 2-0 within the first 10 minutes, the Rovers refused to give up and displayed fantastic team spirit. A brilliant attacking move saw Aoife C. deliver a pinpoint cross for Katie M., who volleyed home to make it 2-1.
The Rovers continued to press for an equalizer, with Niamh O'Brien hitting the crossbar and Molly Sweeney narrowly missing the target. Their persistence paid off before halftime when Sinead K. played a long ball to Niamh, who expertly chipped the onrushing goalkeeper to level the score at 2-2.
The second half saw the Rovers maintain their momentum, and they soon took the lead through a Molly Sweeney corner that deflected off an All Blacks defender. Despite some late pressure from All Blacks, the Rovers' defense, led by Anne M., AnneMaire, Sorcha, and Katie V., stood strong to secure a well-deserved 3 points.
It was a fantastic comeback victory that showcased the team's character and fighting spirit. We're incredibly proud of their performance! A big thank you to All Blacks for making the trip and for a fantastic game of football.
