The U12’s played their first competitive 11-a-side match against visitors Ashford at whitegates this morning. Despite the squad being understrength through a combination of illness and injury, the 12’s were hopeful of repeating their victory over Ashford in a recent friendly.
It wasn’t to be for the green army who struggled to recover from an early Ashford goal. A well taken goal from Hugo Bradshaw in the first half wasn’t enough to spur a comeback for the green and whites. Both teams were perfectly matched, but Ashford took their chances, with Rovers unable to capitalise on their opportunities upfront, despite some dominant performances on the wings, in particular from U11 call up Mark Yukhymenko.
Thanks and well done to Ashford for a great game and a thoroughly deserved win. Rovers will look to make amends on Tuesday night when they face off against Ashford in the Trophy final. Lets go Rovers💪🏻🟢⚪️🟢
